ACADEMY OF ART TRAVELS TO NDNU, HOSTS PENGUINS
The Urban Knights split to start Pacific West Conference play this past week and now venture down the peninsula to meet Bay Area rival Notre Dame de Namur this Saturday. Two days later, Academy of Art University will play host to Dominican in a short break from conference action.
STARTING KICKOFF
ART U plays its first PacWest Conference road match this Saturday, Sept. 28 in Belmont, CA against NDNU at Koret Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 PM following the women's match. Then, on Monday, Sept. 30, Academy of Art will face Dominican in a non-conference pairing at Crocker Amazon Field beginning at 1:00 PM again after the women.

Nine Urban Knights have registered points this season with six of those notching goals. Junior

Luca Theis has started four of six matches thus far with seven saves in just over 352 minutes with a 3-1 record to his name.
HEADED TO NDNU
Notre Dame de Namur, who finished fourth overall in the PacWest last year, opened the year by going 1-3 overall with a 2-1 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 5. The Argonauts shut out Cal State East Bay 1-0 (Sept. 8), but then fell to Western Washington 2-1 and Seattle Pacific 2-0 before coming back to top Dixie State 2-0 in the Sept. 19 start to PacWest play. Since then, NDNU tied with Point Loma 0-0 and put away William Jessup 2-0 this past Wednesday. The Argos have had four of their five goals scored by Jonathan Gonzalez who is currently tied for the conference lead in that category. In goal, Jay Tsuruoka has made five of six starts with four goals allowed and 18 saves in just over 475 minutes of action. He is at the top of the PacWest with three shutouts. Out of the seven previous meetings, both ART U and NDNU are relatively even with the Argos holding a 4-3 advantage despite two overtime victories the Knights have captured in the past three years at Koret Field.
SWAP, RABBITT, AND PENGUINS EMERGE FROM EAST BAY
In a roller-coaster ride of a 2013 season already, Dominican has experienced everything from tough losses to 1-1 ties to dominant victories. The Penguins started the year with a 4-0 loss to Cal Poly Pomona (Sept. 7) and a 3-2 loss to Humboldt State before breaking through for a 2-0 victory over Saint Martin's. From there, Dominican tied Menlo 1-1, fell to Point Loma 3-0, then tied Dixie State 1-1 as well. In non-conference action, the Penguins shut out Cal State Maritime 3-0 on Sept. 24 and will be at Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 28 prior to facing Academy of Art. Similarly to NDNU's Gonzalez, Dominican has seen four of its nine goals scored by Swap Mushiana. Defensively, Patrick Rabbitt has made five of seven starts with eight goals allowed and 24 saves in 490 minutes. Historically, Dominican has a 5-3 lead in matchups with the Knights, but the most recent pairing went to Academy of Art 1-0 last October.
OVERTIME VICTORY HIGHLIGHTS KNIGHTS' SPLIT TO START PACWEST PLAY
The Knights made it three victories in a row this past Thursday as the
Urban Knights prevailed over California Baptist, its first Pacific West Conference opponent of the season, 3-2 in overtime out at Crocker Amazon Park. A flurry of goals came in the final 25 minutes of the match culminating with a cross from Durano to Gretarsson for the game-winner in the 93rd minute.
Then, despite an early downpour Saturday, the weather permitted
ART U to lock into a true battle with Azusa Pacific out at City College of San Francisco. The Urban Knights out-shot their Pacific West Conference opponent 14-11 and had several close chances to score in 90 minutes, but the Cougars ended up winning 1-0 thanks to a first half goal.

Academy of Art continues its stretch of facing Bay Area opponents next week with Holy Names in town on Friday, Oct. 4 and a rematch at Dominican on Sunday, Oct. 6.
