San Francisco, CA -- The Academy of Art University tennis team matched their winning streak that started the 2014 schedule with a clean sweep of UH Hilo, defeating the Vulcans 9-0 on Friday morning at the SF Tennis Club. The Urban Knights won their sixth in a row, and now have two separate streaks of six wins separate by their lone loss. It also marked their sixth sweep this season.
"Today was a good win," said head coach Beth Daub. "We had a lot of team spirit today, and everyone played a key role in the victory. We have great momentum going into tomorrow's match against Dixie."
ART U started off with a successful outing on the doubles front, only dropping three games overall.

Nina Gajdosikova beat Morrisa Kahakui & Rachel Sugiyama 8-1 in the first slot, while
Lucia Zavarcikova &
Jenny Johansson moved to 11-0 in second doubles with a 8-2 win over Trixie Croad & Chelsea Sato.
Michelle Dandik Zaale and
Annika Schneider notched their 11th win of the year and sixth in a row, rolling to an 8-0 sweep of Megan Fujitake & Shanise Kaaikala.
The momentum carried over into singles play, where only one set went to the Vulcans. Gajdosikova recovered from a first-set loss to beat Croad 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 in the tiebreaker to improve to 9-4 on the year in the top spot. Zavarcikova swept away Sato 6-0, 6-0 in second singles, while Dandik Zaale beat Sugiyama 6-1, 6-3 in third singles. Amelunge Antelo took on Kahakui in fourth singles and moved to 10-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, with Johansson beating Fujitake 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles.
Kinga Kurczbuch came in the sixth singles spot and also picked the victory, her sixth of the year, beating Kaaikala 6-2, 6-1 to secure the sweep.
The Urban Knights will play their third match in three days against Dixie State tomorrow before facing #3 BYU-Hawaii and #35 Sonoma State next weekend.
