OPENING SERVE

The Academy of Art University tennis team continued their roll, now matching their winning streak to open the season by earning their sixth straight victory to move to 12-1. The Urban Knights did so against #20 Cal State Los Angeles, a 6-3 win, and UH Hilo, a clean 9-0 sweep, before Saturday's matchup with Dixie State was rained out. Now they'll enter a crucial stretch, taking on the top team in the conference and another tough regional opponent before hitting the road to finish the regular season.

SEASIDERS STRONG ONCE AGAIN
BYU-Hawaii continues their almost perfect run over the last few years with another stellar season, posting an 18-0 record in 2014. The Seasiders have preyed upon fellow Hawaii schools UH Hilo (4-0) and Chaminade (2-0), combining to win all but one match in that span (49-1). In singles play, four Seasiders rank within the top 23 players nationally, represented by Min Liu (16), Nannan Zhang (18), Marika Kobayashi (20), and Marietta Tuionetoa (23). The doubles team of Zhang & Liu is ranked fourth, while Kobayashi & Tuionetoa are ranked seventh in the country.

THIS ONE GOES TO ELEVEN
Doubles partners Jenny Johansson & Lucia Zavarcikova are still flawless on the year in second doubles, winning the first 11 matches of 2014 and not yet incurring a loss on their record. The two are also a combined 20-4 in singles play, with Johansson playing fifth and sixth singles and Zavarcikova going 8-3 in the second spot. Michelle Dandik Zaale and Annika Schneider also have 11 wins in the third doubles spot, going 11-1 and winning their sixth in a row against Hilo last week.

SEAWOLVES SEEKING REVENGE
Sonoma State clashed with the Knights earlier this season, back on February 23rd, with the Urban Knights winning that match 6-3. ART U swept doubles play and took three singles matches, getting wins from the third, fourth, and fifth spots. Since then, the Seawolves fell to Division I UC Davis before rattling off nine wins in a row before falling to #3 BYU-Hawaii on April 2nd. Sara Celma is currently ranked the eighth-best singles player in the country for the only Sonoma State player in the ITA Rankings.

NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS
After the homestand ends, the Knights will play two more away contests, traveling to Fresno Pacific University (April 10th) and Cal State Stanislaus (April 12th) before the PacWest Conference Championships begin in Surprise, AZ on April 16.
