KAILUA, Hawaii — Saturday's women's tennis match between No. 6 Hawaii Pacific and No. 12 Academy of Art University was as tight as it could possibly be, as the Sharks came away with a close 5-4 win at the Kailua Racquet Club in the Urban Knights' final match of their Hawaii road trip.

The Urban Knights (5-3) nearly swept the doubles competition, taking an early 2-1 lead in the match with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Senior

But HPU (15-3) would win four singles matches to earn the edge. Two of its singles victories also came down to the wire, including the decisive victory at No. 2, where Nicole Hoynaski defeated Zavarcikova in three sets, 6-4, 2-6 and 6-0. Lorena Gheorge beat Johansson at No. 4 in straight sets, but her final set victory wasn't easy as Johansson pushed her to 7-5 before falling.

Michelle Dandik Zaale won again in doubles, this time beating Vivian Hansen and Julia Sauer 8-4 at No. 3. Senior Nina Gajdasikova and junior
Annika Schneider improved to 4-0 on the year at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 win triumph over HPU's Kristyna Hancarova and Nicole Hoynaski. ART U's two singles wins went to Dandik Zaale at No. 3, 7-5 and 6-2 over Hansen, and Schneider at No. 6, who beat Julia Sauer 6-1, 6-1.

The Urban Knights return home at 2 p.m. Friday to face No. 15 UC San Diego at the San Francisco Tennis Club.
