SAN FRANCISCO — A clean sweep began the No. 11 Academy of Art University women's tennis team's final week of the regular season Friday, as the Urban Knights topped Dominican University of California 9-0 at the San Francisco Tennis Club.

ART U (10-3) lost only one point in sweeping two doubles matches while earning a default point in another to take a 3-0 lead. Once in singles, the Urban Knights won all five contested matches in straight sets and another default point in the sixth for the sweep. The win extended Academy of Art's win streak to five.

Nina Gajdosikova and junior
Annika Schneider were perfect in No. 1 doubles, sweeping Dominican's (6-10) Chloe Vicari and Kelly Zwicker 8-0. Senior
Jenny Johansson and junior
Michelle Dandik Zaale were nearly perfect at No. 2, defeating Rickimae Torres and Solveig Karlsen 8-1.

Only one singles set out of 10 went to a deciding seventh point. Freshman
Marla Seaver won a 7-5 tiebreaker over Mackenzie Flanagan at No. 5 singles to take the first set 7-6. She would win the second set 6-2 to sweep. Academy of Art hosts Holy Names, another Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament qualifier, at 2 p.m. Saturday, where they'll honor three seniors on Senior Day at the San Francisco Tennis Club.
