ART U Defeats Dixie, Remains Undefeated

Academy of Art versus Dixie State Final Results

SAN FRANCISCO – It was a hot, sunny Valentine's Day in the city by the bay which perfectly epitomized ART U women's tennis type of play as of late: scalding. The No. 23 Urban Knights won their third match of the season and improved to 3-0 after handing Dixie State an 8-1 defeat.

The day got going with three doubles matches in which ART U collectively lost just a single game. Junior Annika Schneider and freshman Taisiia Andrieieva combined for an 8-0 victory and freshmen Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp paired up for the same score. Freshman Paula Alcantara and senior Michelle Dandik Zaale's doubles match resulted in a convincing 8-1 victory.

The Urban Knights also won all, but one of their singles matches. Alma Thell-Lenntorp was the highlight, defeating the Red Storm's Samantha Yacano without dropping a game (6-0, 6-0). The match which did not bounce ART U's way was a two hour and forty-minute heartbreaker where Alcantara fell to Karolin Kukaras 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4). The full results can be found in the link provided above.

Academy of Art continues their stretch of home games on Saturday, November 20 when the No. 26 Sonoma State Seawolves visit the San Francisco Tennis Club.
