ART U Edged 4-5 by No. 26 Sonoma State

Academy of Art versus Sonoma State Final Results

SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 23 Urban Knights suffered their first loss of the season when No. 26 Sonoma State came to town on Saturday, falling 4-5.

After posting a perfect 9-0 record in doubles in the spring's first three matches, ART U only came away 1-2 against SSU. The sole victorious pair was freshmen Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp who posted an 8-3 final score.

The Knights were stronger in singles, posting a 3-3 line against the Seawolves. The Thell-Lenntorp twins yet again proved their dominance, as they both came away with wins against Sonoma. Alma has been particularly dominant as of late, not losing a game in singles in the past three matches. Senior Michelle Dandik had a dominant performance in third singles, defeating Kaitlyn Haithcock 6-0, 6-3. Junior Annika Schneider also came close to winning her singles match, taking her first set 6-3, had two match points in the second, but could not find the clincher, eventually falling in the third set.

ART U will look to bounce back next weekend when their second Division I opponent of the season comes to town in the form of University of Nevada. The Wolf Pack-Urban Knights match will begin a 11 a.m. on Saturday February 27.
