CUE THE WOLF PACK
After suffering their first loss of the season against Sonoma State on Saturday, Academy of Art will look to Division I opponent University of Nevada when they face off at the San Francisco Tennis Club. No. 23 ART U (ranked No. 5 in the West Region) had success with a Division I team in Portland State earlier this season, handing them a 6-1 defeat. KNOTABLE KNIGHTS
Four Urban Knights remain undefeated in singles, with senior Gabriela Rivas and freshmen Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp recording 4-0 records thus far. Freshman Taisiia Andrieieva also comes into Saturday's match undefeated with a 2-0 record split between first and second singles. Alma Thell-Lenntorp has been particularly unstoppable as of late, never dropping a game in her previous three singles matches.
BIG BAD WOLVES
University of Nevada comes into Saturday's match at 1-6 with their sole win coming at home versus Montana. Adriana Gergelyova has emerged as one of the team's leaders thus far, posting a 14-4 overall singles record while going 4-2 in first singles. The Wolf Pack has won two out-of- three first doubles matches, but has gone 0-12 in the second and third categories.
ART U EDGED 4-5 BY NO. 26 SONOMA STATE
February 20 – The No. 23 Urban Knights suffered their first loss of the season when No. 26 Sonoma State came to town on Saturday, falling 4-5.
After posting a perfect 9-0 record in doubles in the spring's first three matches, ART U only came away 1-2 against SSU. The sole victorious pair was freshmen Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp who posted an 8-3 final score.
LOOKING AHEAD
After spending the first month of the season at home, the Urban Knights will play one more match at the San Francisco Tennis Club against Concordia University Irvine before embarking on a two-week, seven-match road trip.
