No. 10 Academy of Art versus Holy Names Final Results
SAN FRANCISCO – In their final tuneup before heading to the PacWest Championship, Academy of Art breezed through Holy Names, defeating the Hawks by the score of 8-1. The Urban Knights also recorded the season-sweep against HNU after they swept the Hawks 9-0 on
February 18.

For the second time this season, ART U swept the doubles category against Holy Names. Junior
Taisiia Andrieieva and sophomore
Mariacristina Andrisani only lost one game in their 8-1 second doubles win, while junior
Klara Thell-Lenntorp and freshman
Kristina Gross teamed up to take third doubles by the score of 8-4. Up top, juniors
Monika Stanikova and
Paula Alcantara were the last to finish, but their 8-6 victory gave the Urban Knights a 3-0 lead heading into singles.

Two Knights were flawless in their individual matches as both No. 9-ranked Stanikova and Andrieieva posted 6-0, 6-0 scores. Both Andrisani and Alcantara were also strong in their straight-set wins, producing 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-3 wins respectively. The only Holy Names win came in fourth singles against No. 37 K. Thell-Lenntorp. Klara was well on her way to victory, winning the first set 6-1 and was leading 3-0 in the second, but she was forced to retire. Perhaps one of the matches biggest highlights was in the sixth position where Gross recorded the first singles win of her ART U career. Gross took the first set 6-3 and was leading in the second, but her opponent came from behind to take the set 7-5. However, she eventually pulled through, taking the tiebreaker 10-6.

ART U ends the regular season with a 14-4 record, but they will now make preparations to head to the PacWest Championship which will begin on Wednesday, April 18.
