PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Sept. 25)
IRVINE, Calif. – In the teams' two weeks of competition, they have now taken home both Pacific West Conference Runner of the Week honors as Academy of Art cross country graduate students
Victor Moreau and
Hasna Kaarour each earned the awards after winning their respective SF State Invitational races on
Sept. 21. The awards were based on meets run Sept. 17-23.
In his first cross country race of the 2018 season, Moreau stepped right in and made an immediate impact. The Communications & Media Technologies major placed first overall at the SF State Invitational, guiding the team to a runner-up finish. Out of 101 total runners on the 8k course at Golden Gate Park, Moreau claimed the top result, posting a time of 25:12.6 to better second place by nearly four full seconds. He would deliver an average mile time of 5:04.3.
Kaarour continued to pace Academy of Art, winning the SF State Invitational outright in the Urban Knights' second meet of the season. The Landscape Architecture major contended with 106 other runners, but confidently took the title with a time of 22:10.6 through the 6k course. Her mark was a full three seconds ahead of second place and she posted an average mile time of 5:56.8 while also helping ART U take second overall as a team.
This is the second PacWest weekly honor in Kaarour's career after she was given the title on
Sept. 4. For Moreau, it is the first award in his career.
