PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Oct. 14)
IRVINE, Calif. – Collecting an eye-popping 52 digs in just two matches, Academy of Art junior outside hitter
Ashley Pawlak showed her versatility in being named PacWest Defender of the Week. The award is based on matches between Oct. 7-13.
The Communications & Media Technologies major began the week by registering 20 digs in a 3-0 victory over Dominican on Oct. 9. At Fresno Pacific three days later on Oct. 12, Pawlak continued her stellar court coverage with a season-high 32 digs that were just four off her career-high.
For the week, Pawlak averaged 6.50 digs per set (by comparison, the PacWest leader averages 6.26 digs per set) and, on the season, the Aiea, Hawaii native paces the Urban Knights in that same category (3.67 digs per set).
This is the second PacWest weekly award for Pawlak in her career after she earned
Player of the Week honors earlier this season.
