2019 All-PacWest Women's Tennis Awards
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Following a season in which Academy of Art women's tennis reached their highest national ranking in program history at No. 5 and captured the No. 1 seed going into the PacWest Championship Tournament, five Urban Knights have been named to the All-PacWest team as announced by the Pacific West Conference on Wednesday night.
For the fourth time in their career, seniors
Alma Thell-Lenntorp and
Klara Thell-Lenntorp earned All-PacWest First Team honors. This is their third consecutive first team accolade and comes after a tremendous season in which they went 13-2 and beat two nationally ranked opponents, including the
No. 1 doubles team in the nation. Junior
Mariacristina Andrisani and freshman
Sofia Ragona were named to the All-PacWest Third Team following a successful year with an 11-3 record that concluded with a seven match winning streak. This is the duo's first postseason award.
First Team singles accolades went to the trio of senior
Monika Stanikova and the Thell-Lenntorp twins. Stanikova added this year's All-PacWest First Team award to two previous All-PacWest Second Team honors. K. Thell-Lenntorp earned her First Team recognition after a Second Team acknowledgement in 2018 and A. Thell-Lenntorp made the All-PacWest First Team in singles for the first time in her career. Rounding out the flood of ART U accolades, Andrisani and Ragona were each named All-PacWest Third Team for singles.
