Youngquist Delivers Second PacWest Player of Week Award

PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Apr. 8)

19548IRVINE, Calif. –
Three home runs in one day highlighted a stellar start to Academy of Art softball's Hawaii roadtrip for senior infielder Brenna Youngquist who was named PacWest Player of the Week. The honor is based on games played between Apr. 1-7.

On Apr. 6, the first day of a four-game series with Chaminade, Youngquist walked twice before going 1-for-4 with a two-run single to help solidify an early ART U lead in the third inning of the second game. The Acting major's breakout came on Apr. 7 when she homered in the first inning of the day's first game to give her team a three-run lead in what would end up being a 5-0 shutout. Saving her best for last, Youngquist then launched two homers, one a two-run shot and the other another of the three-run variety, in the series finale, finishing with five runs batted in.

Youngquist concluded the week with a .400 (4-for-10) batting average, 10 RBIs, three homers, three runs scored, and three walks, slugging 1.300 and offering a .538 on-base percentage along the way. Her 23 RBIs on the season now rank sixth in the PacWest and put her now 18 back of the program's career leader Taylor Thurman (137). With 19 long balls in her career, she now sits second in program history behind ART U's career home run leader Alana Aweau (21).

This is the third PacWest weekly award for Youngquist in her career after she was named Player of the Week on Feb. 4 of this year and earned PacWest Newcomer of the Week as a freshman in 2016.
