PacWest Weekly Awards (Dec. 13)
IRVINE, Calif. – A major contributor to two Pacific West Conference victories for Academy of Art women's basketball in Southern California, freshman forward/center
Alisha Wilson was distinguished as the Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week. Wilson averaged 7.0 defensive rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. The award is for games played from Dec. 6-12.
Beginning with a
Dec. 9 matchup at Concordia, Wilson collected two steals, two rebounds, three fouls drawn, and one block while helping the Urban Knights hold CUI to just six points in the first quarter en route to the 64-61 win. The Communications & Media Technologies major then broke out for 12 defensive rebounds, four blocks, two steals, and four fouls drawn in a 68-60 victory over Point Loma on
Dec. 11. Both opposing teams had come into the contests averaging 68.5 and 72.0 points per game respectively.
On the year, Wilson ranks first in the PacWest in blocks (2.2), second in rebounds (11.1), and 13th in steals per game (1.7).
This is the second PacWest weekly honor for Wilson this season following her
Nov. 27 selection and the third for Academy of Art women's basketball in 2021-22 with
Joy Krupa's Nov. 22 award.
