Manns, Rodgers Selected To All-PacWest NorCal Team

2020-21 All-PacWest Teams

IRVINE, Calif. – After displaying their talents on both ends of the court in their respective debut seasons for Academy of Art women's basketball, junior guard Lauryn Manns and freshman guard Brooke Rodgers were each named to the All-PacWest Northern California Team.

Lauryn Manns"I'm proud of Lauryn and Brooke," said Head Coach Krystle Evans. "They were called on to defend the opposing team's top two players as well as score, facilitate, and rebound at a high level. The two of them embraced the challenge and are first-class teammates."

Through seven games versus PacWest opponents, Manns ranked among the conference leaders in a variety of categories. She finished the regular season ranked sixth in the PacWest in scoring (16.7 points per game), fourth in steals per game (1.9), and 12th in field goal percentage (.395) while shooting a team-best .526 (10-for-19) from long range. She added 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest.

Scoring in double figures in six of her seven games with no fewer than four rebounds and one steal in each outing, Manns' top offensive performance came in the team's final game versus Fresno Pacific. On Feb. 23, the Communications & Media Technologies major became the 12th Urban Knight in program history to score 30 or more points, hitting that number exactly on a highly efficient 12-for-21 shooting from the field. Manns continued to roll one week later when she dropped 28 points (including her second consecutive 4-for-5 shooting effort from distance) while adding a season-best six steals in a Mar. 2 win over Dominican. In her final three games, the Corona, Calif. native averaged 17.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks, resulting in her first PacWest Northern California Player of the Week honor.

Brooke RodgersRodgers was seemingly everywhere on the court in her first seven games with ART U. She ended the season ranked sixth in the PacWest steals per game (1.7) and 10th in assists per game (2.9) while serving as the top-ranked freshman rebounder at 7.6 boards per contest (12th in PacWest overall). The Indianapolis, Ind. Native added 10.0 points per game over an average of 32.7 minutes per outing.

After recording her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Fresno Pacific on Feb. 13, Rodgers nearly had her second one week later when she offered 10 rebounds and eight points plus four assists. However, her next came on Mar. 2 when she finished three assists shy of the program's first triple-double with 12 points and season-highs of 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. The Writing for Film, Television, & Digital Media major then went for a season-high 16 points (on 6-for-12 shooting from the floor), eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists in Academy of Art's decisive 80-60 victory over Dominican on Mar. 6.

"Lauryn and Brooke weren't able to have their recruiting visits because of COVID, and to see how they've embraced the core values of what it means to be a Knight is something I will never forget," Evans said. "They a more than deserving of this recognition."

This is the first All-PacWest Team honor for both Manns and Rodgers in their respective careers.
