SENIOR DAY
Prior to Saturday's match, the Urban Knights will hold a brief ceremony to honor the 2022 ART U men's soccer senior class which is comprised of defender
Logi Saemundsson, forward
Fannar Omarsson,
Jose "JJ" Cortez, midfielder
Christian Schaffner, midfielder
Breki Einarsson, goalkeeper
Davis King, and defender
Gilli Kristjansson. Among the highlights of this year's class includes the potential ART U games played leader in Kristjansson, as well as the fourth-most saves in program history by King. Additionally, it boasts a piece of the Icelandic identity that has been an ART U feature since the program's inception, and had numerous other highlights from key contributors over the previous two years.
KNIGHT WATCH

While Academy of Art was unable to get in the win column in a week that featured battles against Holy Names and Fresno Pacific, there were still goals to be celebrated as junior midfielder
Gilly Miller posted consecutive two-goal games to become the ART U single season points (25) and goals (10) record.
Against the Hawks, Miller converted a pair of penalty kick opportunities that both occurred in the 85th minute, setting the stage for his record-setting brace the following time out. Miller's first goal
against the Sunbirds came in the 53rd minute on a free kick, bouncing untouched through the box into the back of the net, breaking the ART U career points record in the process. Exactly 20 minutes later is when Miller secured the other half of his brace, converting yet another penalty kick opportunity that he earned to become the only Urban Knight in program history to score 10 goals in a single year, breaking both records that were previously held by
Jonmundur Gretarsson set in the 2013 season.
Miller has been instrumental in the offense as he is leading the team in all statistical categories. Additionally, he finds himself among the PacWest leaders as he is tied for the conference lead in assists (five), is tied for second in goals (10), second in points (25), third in points per game (1.56), second in both total shots (51) and shots per game (3.19), and second in both total shots on goal (30) and shots on goal per game (1.88). Two of his goals this campaign have been game-winners, the most on ART U and tied for fifth most in a single season in program history.
Second on the squad in points is redshirt freshman midfielder
Elvis Mensah, who had put together an impressive point streak earlier this season tallying at least one point in five consecutive matches, producing a total of seven over that span thanks to a pair of goals and three assists. He is the only other Urban Knight to reach the double-digit point mark this season, sitting at three goals and four assists, both of which are new career highs.
Trailing behind Miller and Mensah is senior midfielder
Breki Einarsson with four points, as he collected his first points of the 2022 campaign with a helper against Cal Poly Humboldt when he sent a quick pass in the box to senior midfielder
William Mychaltchouk, who powerfully launched a ball across the front of the goal to the back post for the score. Against William Jessup, Einarsson found the back of the net in the 40th minute thanks to a gorgeous header goal inside the box after a cross from the deep right wing by junior midfielder
Kendryx Soriano, who is tied for third on the team in points at three with Mychaltchouk.

Along with the team's winning streak earlier this season, the no goals allowed stretch by senior goalkeeper
Davis King also came to an end after it reached a total of 353 minutes of game action with seven saves over that span. Over the course of the campaign King has made 32 total saves, which is tied for ninth most of all PacWest goalkeepers, while his 2.29 saves per game also ranks 10th. His best outing came in the season opener against Cal State Dominguez Hills where he totaled four saves on 13 shots faced. Prior to the match against Holy Names, King collected an honor from the PacWest as a pair of clean sheets helped him earn
his first ever PacWest Defender of the Week award on Sept. 19, becoming just the second ART U goalkeeper to earn the honor. King faced a total of 26 shots across the week, 13 in each match, and produced a pair of saves in each contest.
Drawing a trio of starts earlier this year between the goal posts was freshman goalkeeper
Jaiden Brooks, the first starts of his collegiate career. After a slow first match, Brooks was called upon often against Fresno Pacific, including making a trio of great saves early in the first half before ending the day with a total of 10. Not only was that the most in a single match by ART U keeper this season, it was tied for the sixth most in a single match in program history, which is the most in a match
since King posted 11 against the same FPU squad on Nov. 2, 2019.
As a unit, ART U has generated a total of 172 shot attempts with 81 making their way on goal (47.1 percent), leading to an average of 10.8 shots per game and 1.31 goals per game. The Knights have twice reached 17 shots in a single game, first doing so against William Jessup before repeating the feat recently against Azusa Pacific. Additionally, Academy of Art has tallied eight shots on goal in a match twice this season, first doing so against WJU before most recently reaching the total against Dominican. A total of 20 Urban Knights have all taken at least one chance at the net, 18 of which put their shots on goal.
PASSING POINT LOMA
Sitting in the middle of the PacWest standings is Point Loma, winners of three of their past five matches though they are most recently coming off of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hawaii Pacific. Much like the standings, the Sea Lions' offense also sits in the middle of the conference as they rank sixth in goals (22) and scoring average (138), though their scoring margin ranks third (+0.38). A number of Sea Lions have recorded points this year, but none more than Samuel Tuscano as he leads the team in goals (four), assists (three), and points (11). Between the posts will be Seth Ketterer, who has amassed 42 saves this year to go with a .724 save percentage. In the all-time series between ART U and PLNU, it's the Sea Lions who lead 8-0-1.
CLIMBING OVER CONCORDIA
Third in the conference standings is Concordia, as they have been winners in three of their past four times out including a pair of recent wins over UH Hilo (2-0) and Chaminade (6-2) on Senior Night. The 27 goals for the Eagles this year rank fourth in the PacWest (along with their 1.69 scoring average), and are tied for second in scoring margin at +0.88. Leading the team in goals (six) and points (13) is Anthony Morales, while Brett Lux leads the team with four assists and is tied with two other Eagles for second on the team in points with eight. Expected to be in goal for Concordia is Andre Flores, who has totaled 45 saves on the year along with a .634 save percentage. Though there are only six meetings all-time between Concordia and ART U, the Eagles lead the series 5-1-0.
MILLER BREAKS PAIR OF ART U RECORDS, BUT FPU SNATCHES WIN
For the second straight match Academy of Art men's soccer junior midfielder
Gilly Miller netted a pair of goals, both of which set new ART U single-season records, putting ART U ahead of Fresno Pacific with just under 15 minutes to go. However, FPU played until the final whistle and scored its own pair of goals in the final five minutes to snatch a 3-2 victory in Pacific West Conference action.
