SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Kevin LaSure and his staff have announced Michaela Andrews (Sacramento, Calif./San Jose City College), a talented distance specialist, as the newest Urban Knight who will compete in both cross country and track & field in ART U's 2022-23 campaigns.

"Michaela has great potential in the mid-distance events and she had a very good season this year under Coach Steve Nelson at San Jose City College after a year of not being able to compete in 2020-2021," LaSure said. "She is just beginning to scratch the surface of what she is capable of accomplishing at the collegiate level."
Andrews made her collegiate debut with San Jose City College in 2022 and continuously improved her times before breaking the program's 800m record on multiple occasions. Her best effort in the event came when she placed first in the Northern California Championships 800m final with a time of 2:14.01 which eventually led her to reach the CCCAA State Championships where she finished second overall.
Bringing multi-year stints on her varsity cross country and track & field teams while at Sheldon High School, Andrews collected numerous honors. She was a Runner of the Week and Most Valuable Player across three seasons of cross country and became the program's 800m record holder during her two years with track & field. Additionally, Andrews competed for three club teams including MP Striders, RPM Legacy, and GoldRush Track Club.
With the future goal of helping others firmly in mind, Andrews starts her Academy of Art journey in the School of Fashion Styling this fall.
