NEW ORLEANS –
For the sixth consecutive competitive year, Academy of Art University women's cross country was awarded All-Academic Team honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. From that team, freshman Lisa Redlinger was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual.

"Congratulations to our women's cross country team and Lisa on a great Fall semester in the classroom," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Kevin LaSure. "We pride ourselves on developing great student-athletes and these young women did a great job of emphasizing the student aspect of that this Fall. We are extremely proud of the work they have done both in the classroom and on the course. We all know the best has yet to come from this group and we look forward to watching them grow over the years."

To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Individual, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at his or her NCAA regional championship or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships. Teams must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and must have scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for All-Academic awards.

Lisa RedlingerSporting a younger roster following its 2021 Pacific West Conference championship run, the women's team finished sixth at the PacWest meet in 2022 before taking 16th at NCAA Regionals all while delivering a collective 3.46 GPA. This year, contributions were made by Redlinger, Audrey Rosencrans, Michaela Andrews, Delanie Dykes, Katharina Goetschl, Lina Hanich, and María Martín.

A PacWest Freshman of the Year candidate, Redlinger led the Urban Knights in three of her four races contested this past fall. En route to a 3.92 cumulative GPA in Interaction & UI/UX Design, she highlighted her first collegiate cross country season by running the seventh-fastest 6k time in ART U history (21:48.7) at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 17 after debuting as the top NCAA DII finisher at the USF Invitational on Sept. 3. Returning to compete at NCAA Regionals for her final race on Nov. 19, Redlinger placed 44th overall out of the 168-runner field.

Redlinger was one of 417 women representing 124 institutions who earned this distinguished USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments. A total of 146 women's teams were honored for the team awards.

This is the first USTFCCCA All-Academic award for Redlinger in her Academy of Art career.
