PacWest Weekly Awards (Oct. 3)

IRVINE, Calif. -- After leading Academy of Art men's soccer to their first two victories of the 2023 campaign, senior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller has collected an honor from the Pacific West Conference as Miller was named as the PacWest Player of the Week. The award is for matches played from Sept. 25 - Oct. 1st.

After scoring two goals and recording four assists for the Urban Knights in a week, ART U now stands at fifth place in the PacWest Conference from their victories against Chaminade and Hawai'i Pacific.

Miller's Player of the Week award comes after he was named to the 2023 Preseason All-PacWest Team earlier this year. This is Miller's second award from the PacWest in his collegiate career as he starts to round out his final season with the squad.

Miller shot seven times with four on target (.571) in his 240 minutes played and managed to earn two penalty kicks from being tackled in the box. Miller sent his four assists to three different teammates and, this week against Hawai'i Pacific on Sept. 30, Miller broke the ART U record for most assists in a career by an individual player, recording two to push his total to 13 in four seasons. 

On the year, Miller's eight points he earned this week elevate him to now tied for first place on ART U and he adds the highest points per game (1.6) and assists per game (0.8) averages within the PacWest Conference.

Not only is this the first Player of the Week award for an Urban Knight this season, it is the first since Kristof Urbanyi did so in 2015. Miller is the seventh Urban Knight all time to be named the PacWest Player of the Week for Academy of Art men's soccer.
