2023 All-PacWest Teams
IRVINE, Calif. – Proving to be among the top two-way competitors in the Pacific West Conference, graduate student outside hitter/right side
Maya McClellan represented Academy of Art volleyball in Tuesday's announcement of PacWest postseason honors. McClellan remained among the PacWest leaders in both kills as well as points per set throughout the year and ended as a member of the All-PacWest Second Team.

One of just three student-athletes from the NCAA Division II West Region (one of two in PacWest) to average at least 3.60 kills and 2.75 digs per set in 2023, McClellan led ART U in points (447.5, fourth in ART U history) and kills (385, fifth in ART U single-season history and first among two-year student-athletes) while adding the squad's second-most digs (292, fifth in ART U single-season history) and service aces (37, fifth in ART U single-season history) in 2023. The Interior Architecture & Design major's averages of 3.63 kills per set (sixth in ART U single-season history) and 4.22 points per set (fifth in ART U single-season history), each ranked second in the PacWest while her 14 double-doubles were first on the team.
"Maya has been the gold standard of competitive fire and relentless effort on our team all year," said Head Coach
Mike Gomez. "She was one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the entire conference and her end-of-season numbers surely reflect that."
Reaching double-digits in kills in all but six of her 27 matches played in 2023, McClellan closed her collegiate career in emphatic fashion, posting the third-highest kill total (27) in ART U single-match history during a 3-2 victory over Dominican on Senior Day (
Nov. 18) that prompted receipt of her first career
PacWest Player of the Week honor. The San Carlos native offered a season-best four service aces one match into the year against Stanislaus State (
Sept. 1), totaled a season-high 23 digs versus Fresno Pacific (
Sept. 27), and matched her career-high with six blocks in a matchup with Azusa Pacific (
Oct. 20).
"Though we are definitely going to miss what she brought to the court with her level of play, what we'll miss most is the way she lead by example in the other areas that it takes to be a successful student-athlete," Gomez said. "I couldn't be more proud of Maya and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to coach her in her senior season."
This is the second All-PacWest Team honor for McClellan in her career.
