PacWest Athletes of the Week (Apr. 26)
IRVINE, Calif. – Achieving impressive marks at both the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays, Academy of Art track & field's
Selena Arjona-Alcazar ran her fastest 100m and 200m dashes of the season, both top 20 marks in NCAA Division II this season, en route to being named Pacific West Conference Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. The award is for meets from April 10-23.
Starting with the 200m at the Mt. SAC Relays on
Apr. 14, Arjona-Alcazar battled numerous NCAA Division I sprinters while posting a 23.76 which currently has her 12th in the nation. On
Apr. 15 at Bryan Clay, the Communications & Media Technologies major went up against other top NCAA DII talent in the 100m and finished at 11.61 across the line to now sit 18th in NCAA Division II. Both Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifications are the highest positions among PacWest sprinters in each event by at least eight spots nationally.
This is the second PacWest Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season and in the career of Arjona-Alcazar after she previously earned the award on
Apr. 5.
