2023 USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country All-Academic Athletes
NEW ORLEANS – Following an
NCAA Division II All-West Region performance leading Academy of Art University women's cross country, sophomore
Katharina Goetschl was awarded All-Academic Athlete honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Athlete, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at her NCAA regional championship or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
In her first season competing for ART U cross country, Goetschl led the Urban Knights in each of the team's final three meets including both the Pacific West Conference Championship and NCAA DII West Regional Championship. On her way to a 3.44 cumulative GPA in the School of Industrial Design, Goetschl highlighted the year by running the fourth-fastest 6k time in ART U history (21:20.5) and finishing 12th of 164 runners at Regionals on
Nov. 4 after earning a place on the
All-PacWest Second Team with her eighth-place result at the PacWest Championship on
Oct. 21.
Goetschl was one of 407 women representing 109 institutions who earned this distinguished USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
This is the first USTFCCCA All-Academic award for Goetschl in her Academy of Art career.
