Viktoria LethGREENWOOD, Ind. – Proving what the pair can accomplish both on and off the courts, Academy of Art tennis senior Viktoria Leth and sophomore Jessica Plazas' combination of academic and athletic success was recognized in Tuesday's announcement of the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections.

The 2024 Academic All-District tennis teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

While she excels on the court, Leth has maintained a 3.813 grade point average while primarily competing on Court 2 in doubles and Court 5 in singles for the Urban Knights. The 2024 PacWest Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player clinched the conference title win for the squad and was most recently the first Knight to finish in singles to give ART U an early lead over Concordia, a match where the team would triumph 4-2 and move on to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.

Jessica PlazasA two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-PacWest Team recipient in previous years, Leth has won 26 total matches this season, and is on a current nine-match doubles win streak headed into Nationals. The native of Gothenburg, Sweden has shined for ART U throughout the year, and has been a focal point to the success of the squad in their postseason play.

The 2023 ITA West Region Rookie of the Year, Plazas has also excelled this season with her 3.787 grade point average, as the Bogotá, Colombia native was named to the All-PacWest Second Team in singles once again this year. With a 17-2 overall singles record on the season, Plazas has climbed to as high as No. 62 in the national rankings for singles. Winning 31 total matches in the campaign, the Acting major has won a set 6-2 or better on 32 occasions.

In her first year with the program last season, Plazas was also named to the 2023 ITA Scholar-Athlete and 2023 Academic All-PacWest Team, while also being awarded 2023 All-PacWest Second Team in doubles honors. Most recently, Plazas came back in her second set against Concordia to clinch the postseason victory and send the team to Nationals, a match that followed a PacWest Conference Championship as she contributed six wins to the squad in the tournament.

These are the first CSC Academic All-District honors for Leth and Plazas in their respective careers.
