New Recruit Of 2024 Class Signed For Women's Soccer

Tegan SmithSAN FRANCISCO – With the team continuing to stack the roster for the 2024 campaign, Academy of Art women's soccer has announced a newly added recruit, as the Urban Knights welcome midfielder Tegan Smith (Henderson, Nev./Coronado).

"I chose ART U because I loved the environment when I went to visit," Smith said. "I loved that it gave me the option to follow my passion with photography and gave me the opportunity to make a career with it but also continue to play soccer."

The first midfielder of the recruiting class, Smith played a two-year varsity career for Coronado High School, and recently closed out her high school days as a 5A Girls Soccer 2023-24 Nevada State Champion. Finishing the campaign with an 18-4-5 overall record with the squad, Smith and the Cougars took down the respective #5, #1, and #3 seeds en route to the championship title. When not competing for the Cougars, Smith was a part of Albion SC Las Vegas, her club team.

"I am most excited to be on a new team, get close to my teammates, and learn my way around a big city," Smith said.

While in pursuit of her future goal of working as a photographer in professional sports, Smith joins Aubrey Schraml for the upcoming season for Academy of Art women's soccer.
