KNIGHT WATCH

One of nine PacWest teams with double-digit victories overall, Academy of Art has posted wins over SF State (
Nov. 8), Cal State Monterey Bay (
Nov. 9), Cal Maritime (
Nov. 12), Stanislaus State (
Nov. 16), Sonoma State (
Nov. 21), UC Merced (
Dec. 1), Chaminade (
Dec. 21), Jessup (
Jan. 8), Lincoln (Calif.) (
Jan. 11), and CUH once again (
Feb. 1) over the course of 2024-25 thus far. No conference team is better than Academy of Art in terms of lowest opponent field goal percentage (.346) in addition to ranking third in assists per contest (12.7) and fourth in blocks per game (4.0).
Now having had at least seven different players scoring over the last 22 consecutive games (28 straight dating back to the end of last year), ART U continues to carry a roster with seven Knights averaging more than 5.0 points per contest. After dropping a career-high 25 points in her most recent outing versus Menlo on Feb. 8, junior guard
Alba Rovira Ayuso tops the squad at 9.6 points per game with the collection of senior forward
Yasmine Sifaoui (9.4), senior forward/center
Christy Ojide Boiko (7.0), redshirt freshman guard
Karereatua Williams (6.5), and the trio of sophomore guards
Lucia Revenga (6.5),
Maddie Morrow (5.7), and
Anna Fornells (5.4) all making contributions offensively.
Ojide Boiko adds a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game after grabbing at least three in each of her last 17 games and is up to 588 career rebounds (third in ART U history) with 341 coming on the defensive glass (fourth in ART U history) and 247 on the offensive end (third in ART U history). Five rejections over her last two games has freshman forward
Keira Mitchell ranking fifth in the conference at 1.3 blocks per game while Revenga's 2.6 assists per game are ninth.
WEEKEND WARRIORS
With 11 conference wins in 16 games, Westmont holds the fifth spot in the PacWest standings despite recent losses to Point Loma and Azusa Pacific. The Warriors had rattled off 10 straight victories prior to those contests and now prepare for their first matchup of the season with Academy of Art. For a squad that ranks second in the PacWest in points (67.2) and rebounds per game (41.7), Sage Kramer's 16.8 points per contest are third across the conference while Lisa Kiefer and Jazmyn Shipp are the PacWest leaders in rebounds per game (11.8) and field goal percentage (.525) respectively. Meeting ART U for the first time last season, Westmont leads the series 2-0.
DOMINICAN: PART DEUX
The Penguins' 14-point win over the Knights on Feb. 5 helped fuel what has now become a six-game win streak following Dominican's 64-41 victory hosting Biola. DU matches up with Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 13 and continues to be one of the best rebounding teams in the PacWest, collectively averaging 41.8 boards per contest. Alaiyah San Juan paces the Penguins with 13.1 points per game (10th in PacWest) and Taylor Linzie, who previously grabbed 19 rebounds against ART U, is up to second in the conference at 10.3 boards per game. Despite DU's recent success in the historical matchup, it is still Academy of Art in front 20-13 all time.
27-POINT FOURTH HAS ART U NEARLY COMPLETE COMEBACK
Though Menlo had the edge early on, Academy of Art women's basketball resiliently fought back by either tying or surpassing the Oaks in the three subsequent quarters including 27 points in the final frame that saw ART U repeatedly within striking distance on
Feb. 8. In the end, however, the visitors eked out a 69-67 Pacific West Conference victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
In what will be the final two home games of the 2024-25 regular season, the Urban Knights host Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 20 then UH Hilo for Senior Night on Feb. 24.
