Knights In Third Through Two Rounds Of PacWest Tourney

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. –
Through two of three rounds at the Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament, Academy of Art women's golf now hold a 24-over-par 600 in their third third place slot, improving by two strokes compared to the first round.

Still in the top 10 is freshman Meri Illamola, who now has a combined 4-over-par 148 while sophomore Chantel Tsai is just a stroke behind her with a 5-over-par 149. Junior Nicole Yang and freshman Isabella Christy are in the next two spots for the Urban Knights with their 7-over-par 151 and 9-over-par 153, as freshman Jannel Calixterio rounds out the squad with her 11-over-par 155. Playing with the last group of the day on Tuesday, Illamola sunk a birdie look on the 18th hole to head into the third round on a high.

In the individual ranks, Menlo's Rori Fanning and Biola's Rachel Shaw share the lead after the second round, as the duo each shot a 1-under-par 143, two strokes ahead of another quartet of golfers. Shooting the only under-par round of the day, Biola took over the lead after Tuesday's action, shooting a 4-under-par 284 to now total a 7-over-par 583, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Hawaii Pacific. 

Starting at 9:40 a.m. tomorrow morning, the women's groups will close the PacWest Tournament out with the final round.
