Aileen Nasypany enters her fifth year as head coach of the Academy of Art University program after joining ART U in 2009.
Nasypany guided the Urban Knights to their most Pacific West Conference wins in her first year, then had two of her athletes receive PacWest honorable mentions and six on the PacWest Academic All-Conference Team in 2010. She would coach ART U to another high-water mark in wins in 2011, producing the program's first All-PacWest Second Team recipient in the process. Most recently she led the Knights to the most wins in program history again in 2012.
Nasypany brings a wealth of soccer experience ranging from the club to professional levels. She played collegiate soccer at Division I Canisius College (NY) and Division II Bentley College (MA). After graduation, she continued her passion for soccer by beginning her coaching career at Herkimer County Community College in NY.
At H.C.C.C., Nasypany served one year as assistant coach before being promoted to head coach the following year. She guided the team to a 10-5-2 record and a playoff berth. For her accomplishments, Nasypany was named the Mountain Valley Conference Second-Team Coach of the Year.
Nasypany then spent three years working in the front office of the Boston Breakers (Women's United Soccer Association). She was involved in team and field operations, hospitality, camps, player development program, website design and merchandise. After the WUSA folded, she became the Assistant Coach for Emerson College in 2003.
Nasypany moved to the West Coast in early 2004 where she has worked with youth premier club teams and high school programs within Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, and Bay Area. She was named SCCAL Coach of the Year for her accomplishments at Aptos High School in 2008.
She also served as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2004-2008. The team generated much success with three NCAA Playoff Appearances, being ranked in the top #25 in the nation, and two NSCAA Team Academic Awards. The squad set school records in 2007 with an undefeated season (17-0-4) which included 18 shutouts and advancement to the NCAA Sweet 16 round. At UCSC, Aileen also contributed to the formation of the Title IX Gender Equity Committee and worked as both Assistant Sports Information Director and Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director.
In 2007, Nasypany became the Head Coach for the WPSL San Francisco Nighthawks and a year later, she added the position of Women’s Professional Soccer’s League Office Manager and Assistant to the Commissioner to her diverse resume. She has most recently guided the Nighthawks to back to back championship titles at the Las Vegas Silver Mug National Tournament (2009 and 2010) and won the Northern California Open State Cup Championship.
A native of Herkimer, N.Y., Nasypany holds an NSCAA Advanced National Coaching license and a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science. She currently resides in San Francisco.
