Leading Academy of Art softball throughout the Tournament of Champions, sophomore catcher Lauryn Henderson hit .526 (10-for-19) with eight runs batted in, two home runs, two doubles, five runs scored, and three stolen bases. She would be named
PacWest Player of the Week, All-Tournament Team, and the tournament's Batting Champion, a first in program history.
The Game Development major started the Tournament of Champions with a 5-for-5 day that included a home run, a double, four runs batted in, and three stolen bases against UC San Diego and Central Washington on
Mar. 29. She went on to play a key role in both wins on day two,
Mar. 30, finishing 4-for-8 with a homer versus Cal State East Bay then three hits in a matchup with Concordia (Ore.) including the game-winning single in the eighth inning. She was at it again on
Mar. 31, connecting for a two-run double that would be the difference in a 3-1 win over Montana State Billings.
For the season, she now ranks second in the PacWest in both batting average (.438) and slugging percentage (.771).
