Davis, CA---- The Academy of Art track & field team traveled to Davis, California this past weekend to compete against some of the top Division I opponents. 

The Urban Knights had their work cut out for them last weekend as they had only one male runner place in all the events they competed in. Joey Villasenor (Olivehurst, CA) finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.51. The third place finish would be enough to take the top spot on the men's side. Daveson Marindich (Eldoret, Kenya) had the next highest finish on the men's side as he came in fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:04.42. Geoffrey Cheruiyot (Nairobi, Kenya) who ran in section 2 of the 800 meter run finished ninth with a time of 2:01.47.

The lone Urban Knights male field competitor, Durelle Williams (Nassau, Bahamas), had another strong showing in the long jump, as he placed first with a jump of  6.61m. His jump was enough to best other fielders from UC Davis, Sacramento State, and UC Berkeley. 

For the women, Briana Stewart (Oakland, CA) was the only Knight to compete and finish an event. She came in fifth in the 100m hurdles and then took first place in the triple jump with a jump of 11.63m.

The Urban Knights have the week off and will return to action on April 25, when they travel to San Diego and take part in the Triton Invitational.
