San Francisco, CA--- The Academy of Art University's men's and women's track and field team had two first and second place finishes in the Johnny Mathis Track & Field Invitational at SF State's Cox Stadium 4/3/2009-4/4/2009.
Briana Stewart (Oakland, CA) took both first place spots for the women, winning the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.53 and then out-jumping competition in the triple jump, her 12.19m jump was good enough to put her in the first place position.
Durelle Williams (Nassau, Bahamas) also took both top spot finishes for the men's side, finishing second in the long jump (6.53m) and in the triple jump (14.05m). This was
Stewart and
Williams second meet in which they finished first or second in their respective events.
The Urban Knights continued to have solid running from
Simon Mutai (Nakuru, Kenya) who finished 11th out of 40 runners in the men's 1500m run.
Daveson Marindich (Eldoret, Kenya) and
Amos Maru (Nandi Hills, Kenya) both placed 13th with a time of 4:10:00, and
Shawn Daut (Pleasanton, CA) rounded out the pack with a 17th place finish.
Denisse Correa (San Diego, CA) also continues to run strong on the women's side; she finished 15th overall in the women's 1500m run with a time of 5:12:00.
