Track & Field Takes Part in San Francisco State Distance Carnival

Over the weekend the Academy of Art track & field program participated in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.  The days events were highlighted by numerous top 10 performances.

ART U's Pearson Crichlow placed first in the men's 400m and the 200m. His his time of 22.26 in the 200m dash beat out runners from five different institutions, while his time of 50.20 in the 400m was a mere .02 seconds off his personal best. Teammate Alexander Craig clocked in with a time of 50.67 to place third in the same event. 

Remigius Roskosch, in his first attempt at the 100m dash for the Urban Knights, came away with a first place finish. The sophomore finished with a personal best time of 11.10. The same event saw Emil Tolliver and Erik Piedad place third and sixth respectively.

Kennedy Kurgat finished with a season best time of 1:53.84 in the 800m run. He finished second in the 47 runner field.  In the 5000m run Daveson Marindich and Amos Maru finished seventh and tenth
  
The Urban Knights also received several outstanding individual performances on the women's side as well. Chantel King placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 59.90. Ashley Austin finished with a season best time of 27.13 in the women's 200m dash.
 
Kylie Long, meanwhile, shaved nearly 16 seconds off her 800m time from last week, completing the race at 2:19.03.
  
The women's 4x400 relay teams' took first and third. Ashley Austin, Jasmine Sharpe, Tanner McCandlish, and Melissa Co comprised the group that took first in the event with a time of 4:18.61.
 
The Urban Knights will be back in action next weekend, April 1-2, at the Johnny Mathis Invitational at Cox Stadium.
