Turlock, CA --- The Academy of Art track & field team topped the competition during the Kim Duyst Invitational hosted by Cal State Stanislaus Saturday afternoon. In a field of more than 950 participants, ART U found themselves atop the leaderboard in several events.
The men's 4x400 relay team captured a win in their respective event to highlight the day for Academy of Art.
Hamza Bouchafra,
Erik Piedad,
Aric Armon and
Pearson Crichlow placed first in the 4x400 with a time of 3:20.86. The men's 4x100 relay team placed fourth.
Remigius Roskosch,
Erik Piedad Pearson Crichlow, and
Hamza Bouchafra beat out 11 other institutions with a time of 42.41.
Individually,
Crichlow won the 200m dash with time of 22.05. Teammate
Alexander Craig finished fifth, clocking in at 22.45.
Crichlow earned another top 10 finish in the 400m run. The junior placed third with a time of 50.18.
Aric Armon placed sixth in the same event with a time of 51.15.
Three Urban Knights also shined in the distance events.
Kennedy Kurgat placed third in the 1500m run with a time of 3:56.60.
Daveson Marindich finished sixth with time of 3:58.51 in the same event.
Amos Maru took ART U's third top 10 honor, placing 10th with a time of 4:00.26.
Chantel King highlighted the women's team with a third place finish in the 200 (26.10) and was sixth in the 400 (61.05). Teammate
Kylie Long was close behind King, finishing seventh in the 400m with a time of 61.35.
In her first appearance, junior
Janelle Burnett placed sixth in the javelin. She threw 30.32m.
Next week the Urban Knights will head to Davis for the Aggie Open at UC Davis.
