Track and Field Shines at SFSU Johnny Mathis Invitational

San Francisco, CA --- The Urban Knights' track and field program enjoyed a successful day on the track Saturday afternoon during the Johnny Mathis Invitational hosted by San Francisco State University.

ART U's quartet, featuring: Remigius RoskoschErik PiedadPearson Crichlow, and Emil Tolliver produced the Urban Knights fastest finish in the 4x100, with a time of 41.71. While the men's 4x400 relay team earned a first place finish clocking in with a time of 3:22.08. Kennedy KurgatPearson Crichlow, Alexander Craig, and Aric Armon comprised the group that beat out runners from UC Santa Cruz and host San Francisco State University.

Roskosch, who has been a solid addition to the Urban Knights roster, found himself atop the leaderboard again in the long jump at Cox Stadium Saturday afternoon. The sophomore from Germany, jumped 7.38m (24' 02". 50) to take his third first place finish in the long jump this season. Roskosch was the only athlete to jump further than seven meters in the day's event, and was just inches away from topping his season best jump of 24' 7".25.

Another athlete close to notching season bests in their respective events was Pearson Crichlow. Crichlow finished first in the 200m dash with a time of 22.36. Emil Tolliver and Erik Piedad each finished fifth and sixth in the same event. Then in his first official attempt in the 100m dash, Crichlow came away with a fourth place overall finish with a time of 10.92. 

Kennedy Kurgat set a season best time in both the men's 400m run and 1,500m run. The junior's time of 50.28 earned him a third place finish in the 400m, less than a second behind Tojah Kennedy of Cal. He also placed third in the 1,500m run, finishing in a time of 3:55.66.

The women enjoyed some success on the track Saturday afternoon as well. Ashley Austin picked up an eighth place finish in the 400m hurdles. While Hannah Otey out threw more than half of the participants in the women's discus. Otey placed sixth in the 15 player field, throwing a personal best, 34.17m.

The ART U track & field team next participates in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held April 8-9.
