Results
Berkeley, CA -- Track & field athletes from more than 15 universities from around the country, as well as a host of competitors competing for club teams or unattached, convened in Berkeley this weekend for the Brutus Hamilton Open and Invitational.
The weekends events were highlighted by the men's victory in both the 4x100 and 4x400.
ART U's
Remigius Roskosch,
Pearson Crichlow,
Erik Piedad, and
Emil Tolliver tied their season best time of 41.53 for the second time this season, defeating Merrit College and Fresno State in the 4x100 relay.
Back on the track,
Kennedy Kurgat,
Pearson Crichlow,
Erik Piedad and
Aric Armon earned ART U's second and final victory of the day in the 4x400. The quartet blazed past the competition, finishing in 3:19.95.
Crichlow finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.54(w), while teammate
Emil Tolliver placed seventh in the same event.
In the 400m run both
Chantel King, for the women, and
Aric Armon, for the men, excelled in their heats. King placed sixth in her heat, while Armon captured a first place heat finish with season best time of 49.68.
In the mid-distance events,
Kylie Long and
Geoffrey Cheruiyot each competed against a talented pack in the 800m run. Long finished in a time of 2:19.59 over runners from Santa Clara, University of San Francisco and Stanford.
Cheruiyot placed first in his heat with a time of 1:57.00.
In the women's hurdles, sophomore
Emily Allis excelled for the Urban Knights. Allis captured a fourth place heat finish in the 400mH with a season best time of 1:05.47.
Ashley Austin and
Kendall Long finished back-to-back in the same event, with Austin finishing in 1:10.35 and Long clocking in right behind her at 1:11.22.
The Urban Knights next head to Clovis, CA where they will take part in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Fresno State University.
