Clovis, CA --- The Academy of Art men's and women's track and field team traveled to Clovis, CA to take part in the Bulldog Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium hosted by Fresno State University.
The Urban Knights competed against Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Bakersfield, along with a host of individuals from other universities.
In the field events, Academy of Art was led by
Remigius Roskosch, who won the long jump with a jump of 7.24m. The win marks his fourth victory in the long jump this season.
The women started off the day with
Chantel King earning a season best in the 200m. Her time of 25.60 shaved .02 seconds off her previous personal best time of 25.62. King then earned a top 15 finish in the 400m run with a time of 59.97.
Kylie Long beat out runners from host institution Fresno State and Sacramento State in the 800m run. Long placed 11th with a time of 2:22.97.
Emily Allis earned a personal best in the 400m hurdles, placing third with a time of 1:04.04
On the field for the women,
Hannah Otey continued to improve as she placed 14th in the discus with a personal best throw of 35.33m.
Janelle Burnett placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 36.10m.
Emil Tolliver was a tenth of a second off of his personal best time in the 100m dash. Tolliver clocked in at 10.87, which earned him a 10th place finish in a field of 20 Division I athletes. Teammate
Erik Piedad finished in 11.26 in the same event.
Tolliver racked up another personal best in the 200m dash, finishing sixth with a time of 21.83.
Aric Armon was another ART U athlete to amass a personal best. Armon finished fourth in the 400m run with a time of 49.47
"We had a good close to our season this weekend," said Head Coach Charles Ryan. "You can really see the growth of the athletes from where they started," continued Ryan.
"Over the last two meets each athlete on our roster has ran a lifetime best in at least one event and as a coach that's all you can ask for."
The Urban Knights continued to challenge opponents in both the distance and mid-distance events.
Daveson Marindich took first in the 3000m run with a 8:47.53.
Kennedy Kurgat took third in the 800m run. While teammates
Geoffrey Cheruiyot and
Hamza Bouchafra each finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
The men's 4x400 closed the meet with new school record performance, finishing in 3:19.30. The quartet comprised of;

Erik Piedad,
Alexander Craig, and
Pearson Crichlow put pressure on their Division I opponents as they ran the most gutsy race Head Coach Charles Ryan had seen them run all year. "They put everyone on notice today of what is to come, I was very proud of them," Ryan said.
Just one day after taking first at the Bulldog Invitational in the long jump,
Remigius Roskosch represented the Academy of Art as the lone Urban Knight at the Payton Jordan Invitational hosted by Stanford University.
"Remi once again went into a huge venue and took down all the major programs," said Ryan.
"His performance was outstanding and he has consistently represented what the future of this program holds. I could not be happier with what he has done for us this year," closed Ryan.
The sophomore used a 7.32m mark to beat out nine athletes from some of the nations top Division I programs. The win gives him his fifth first place finish of the season and his 10th top three finish overall.
