85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Results
Austin, TX – ART U Track and Field went out on a historic note Saturday at the 85th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The Urban Knights had two competitors, freshman
Jaylon Hicks and junior
Vashti Thomas, in three events (100m dash, 100m hurdles, long jump) and Academy of Art University program records were posted in each at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Thomas had two impressive results Saturday including an incredible 13.04 mark in the 100mH and a distance of 20-7.75 in the long jump. Her time in the 100mH gave her 4th out of nine finalists (ahead of times from Wright State, Villanova, and Stanford among others) and ranked as the new program record. And, with her first long jump attempts of the outdoor season, Thomas achieved ART U's new top mark while finishing 9th out of 14 jumpers. The San Jose, CA native would practically rewrite the Urban Knights' long jump record books by posting four of the top five times on this day alone.
One day after sprinting to a personal record and ART U number one time in the preliminaries of the 100m dash, Hicks bettered that with a 10.37 mark. He would finish 3rd out of nine competitors in the finals to cap off a memorable return to his home state of Texas. Hicks' time, which was lower than runners from South Plains and West Texas A&M among others, now rates first overall for Academy of Art University.
ART U Track and Field returns to action on Apr. 6 for the SF State Distance Carnival and the two-day Stanford Invitational (Apr. 6-7).
