ART U's Win Streak Comes to an End in Lone Star State

The Urban Knights finished off another tough day in the second round of the Doc Housewright Invitational at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury, TX, ending up in eighth place out of a competitive field of 14 teams this week. The Knights dropped nine strokes from yesterday's first round score, but still finished ahead of six other opponents in the matchup.

Sharon Lau of Tarleton State won the overall event after a playoff with Wallis Spears of St. Edwards, who both finished with identical scores of 142 (2-under). Crystal Superal was the highest finisher for the Knights, finishing at 153 (+9) after her second round score of 78. Andrea Nieto (157) finished tied for 28th place, and Lyra Yoe (160) finished in 38th for ART U. Melissa Genao (163) and Mariana Pazos (170) also participated and finished solidly in a large field of 72 players.

Host Tarleton State took home the win, finishing four strokes ahead of Midwestern State, and five strokes in front of the Round One leader, St. Edwards University. Western Texas was in fourth place behind two rounds of 73 by Maria Palacios, and Cameron University finished in fifth place.

The Knights will be back on the course again to wrap up the season early next week at the CSU Monterey Bay Otter Invitational in Seaside, CA.
