The Academy of Art University track teams had their final tuneups before the postseason starts, sending runners to three different locations this past weekend. The Knights had solid performances all around, including
Jenny Bergren hitting the provisional qualifying mark as the only runner in the Seattle Pacific Last Chance Meet.
Seattle, WA -- After earning the school's first All-American award last fall,
Jenny Bergren continued to impress in the indoor season, this time at the Seattle Pacific Last Chance track meet. Bergren set a personal and program best in the women's mile, running it in 4:55.50, which won her the race and also got her under the provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Indoor Championships next month. After the weekend's events it was the 15th-best time in Division II.

Turlock, CA -- Meanwhile in Turlock, at the Cal State Stanislaus Open Invitational the Urban Knights had a number of athletes compete.
Temarius Walker finished third in the men's 800M with a time of 2:04.20, his second-best mark of the season.
Jens Alban also put in his first time in the 800M, notching a top-ten finish with a time of 2:06.50.
In the women's 800M, the Urban Knights had three finishers in the top ten.
Heather Castro turned in a fourth place finish (2:31.10), while
Arianna Michaels finished seventh (2:36.60).

Fairfax, VA -- In the track program's last meet of a busy weekend, the Knights had members at George Mason's Last Chance Track Meet.
Keanna Moody exploded with her second-lowest mark of the season and a second-place finish in the 400M. Moody turned in another time under the provisional qualifying mark.
Briana Stewart also finished in the top ten with a time of 57.99 in the 400M.
Jaylon Hicks took first place in the men's 60M, hitting the provisional qualifying mark on the nose with a 6.90 finish, adding another time to his top five career times, which match the top five in program history. The Knights finished the day with two more top-ten finishes in the men's 200M finals.
Emil Tolliver had a fifth place finish with a mark of 22.53, while Hicks had another top-ten finish with a time of 22.78 to take eighth in a field of 26.

The Urban Knights will be back in action next week at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, NM. A week after that they'll send a hefty contingent to the NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, AL to end the season.
