Track & Field Keeps Rolling At Jacksons Invite

2014 Jacksons Invitational Results

Nampa, ID – A small contingent of ART U Track & Field athletes closed out the Jacksons Invitational with multiple impressive times in Saturday's sprint events. Most notably, Jordan Edwards as well as Ronald Spears, Jr. and Keanna Moody excelled in the 60m dash and 400m respectively.

The men's 60m dash was a sight to see Saturday as Edwards and Spears, Jr. each delivered new personal records. Beginning with the prelim, Edwards got himself into third out of 40 overall with a 6.93 and Spears, Jr. pushed his way into seventh with a new PR of 7.00. Those times would both be bested in the finals, however, where Edwards flew to a 6.85 to make him second in both the competition and on ART U's all-time list. Spears, Jr. rose into third on that list (5th in the finals) just behind Edwards with a sizeable improvement on his time (6.93).

Moody kept her stellar sophomore campaign going with a 56.54 in the 400m dash. The time put her in a tie for first place overall out of the 45-competitor field. She beat out a pair from Washington State and found herself deadlocked with Boise State's Mackenzie Flannigan.

It was a season-best for newcomer Amira Barnett in the 60m hurdles as she snagged 11th overall with a time of 9.22.

In the 4x400m relay, the quartet of Moody, Dominique Berry, Mistic Scott, and Dierra Haven placed third of 14 with a time of 3:53.42.

Additionally, ART U Track & Field alum and volunteer assistant coach Vashti Thomas wowed the Boise State crowd with her top performances in the 60m and 60m hurdles. She blistered to a 7.61 mark in the 60m prelims then dropped to a 7.49 in the finals, earning first place finishes in both. Thomas dominated the 60mH as well with an 8.22 prelim and 8.28 final for another pair of first place results.

Next up for the Urban Knights is the SPIRE DII Challenge on Feb. 7-8 at the SPIRE Institute Indoor Track & Field Facility in Geneva, OH.
