2015 CBU Women's Invitational Final Results
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Another solid team effort in Tuesday's final round allowed the Academy of Art University women's golf team to win its first tournament since 2012, as the Urban Knights took the team title at the 2015 CBU Women's Invitational hosted by California Baptist at Victoria Golf Course.
Â
The Urban Knights had three players finish among the top-10 and all five of their players in the top-25. ART U posted the third-best team score Tuesday with a 316 and finished the tournament with a 628 total score. Its closest competitor after Monday's first round, Dixie State, fell all the way back to fourth with a +9 differential from the opening round. Host California Baptist finished second, four strokes back at 632.
Â
"I am so happy with the girls' performance," said Academy of Art head coach
Elaine Harris. "They have been working really hard this off-season and the results are proof at this tournament."

Sophomore
Crystal Wang repeated her strong play from Monday to earn silver medalist honors, finishing two strokes behind individual medalist Tina Yang of California Baptist. Wang eagled her final hole for the second straight day to complete a second round score of 77. She finished as the only player in the tournament who had any eagles.
Â
The biggest clutch performance of the day came from sophomore
Roxanne Matta, who stepped up and tied for the lowest round of the day with a 76. That came on the heels of a nine-over 81 on Monday that had her sitting in 15th place. Tuesday's performance jumped her nine spots to a sixth-place showing.
Â
"Roxanne placed sixth and after a hard day yesterday," said Harris. "She came back with a solid 76. I am so proud of these girls and look forward to playing next weekend at Hiddenbrooke."
Â
Matta's performance was crucial for ART U's title bid, as it filled in for freshman
Sterling Hawkins, who had a strong first round on Monday but fell back to shoot a 13-over 85 Tuesday and finish tied for 17th. Freshman
Shu-lin Lin stayed consistent and shot an 80 Tuesday after a 79 Monday to finish tied for eighth.

Academy of Art next plays in the East Bay at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course for the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay on Monday and Tuesday.
