Knights Drop PRs At Kim Duyst Invitational

2015 CSU Stanislaus Kim Duyst Invitational

TURLOCK, Calif. – In its second outdoor meet of the season, ART U Track & Field returned to Cal State Stanislaus for the Kim Duyst Invitational. Multiple personal records were set by both genders including a 200m top finish from Mistic Scott and a new top mark by Mack Marbas in the 3000m steeplechase. Jordan Edwards also earned a NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier in the 100m.

Scott placed first overall out of 55 sprinters in the 200m, producing a time of 24.92 which serves as the top mark for ART U in the event thus far in 2015. She bested a crew of four Chico State competitors who placed inside the top six.

In the 1500m, McKaela Christenson went 4:55.35 for a new PR, bettering the time she original posted in this same meet last year.

The long jump saw Amanda Odesjo deliver a new personal best of 18-6 (5.64m), giving her second place out of 24 jumpers.

Hadiyah Muhammad finished fourth of 42 in the 100m and Chante Sneed had the same placement in a group of 31 competing in the 400m.

Additionally, Elizabeth Khuu became the Urban Knights first-ever athlete to compete in the 3000m steeplechase.

The men's 100m featured a time of 10.57 from Edwards, earning him first overall of 36 sprinters in the event. He dropped below the cutoff for a NCAA provisional qualifier and becomes the first ART U athlete to meet the standard through two outdoor meets this season. Marlon Britton finished third.

In the 3000m steeplechase on the men's side, Marbas went 9:43.54 to better the mark set by Nicolas Rifflard at last year's PacWest Championships in Fresno. Marbas was sixth of 12 and the top finisher in a trio of Urban Knights competing along with Austin Esposito and Logan Means.

First place was awarded to Shaquille Howard in a 40-man 200m dash and he was one part of a quartet that included Britton, Edwards, and Alexander McNally who finished just shy of a provisional qualifier in the 4x100m relay. They were still first of seven teams competing.

In the 400m, James Steptoe put his name among the program's top five all-time with a 49.29, taking second place out of 21.

Next weekend will be NCAA Nationals for indoor season and that competition is set to be followed by the Johnny Mathis Invitational on Mar. 20-21 hosted by San Francisco State.
