2015 Brutus Hamilton ChallengeBERKELEY, Calif. – A day removed from a busy Brutus Hamilton Open, it was a small group of Urban Knights who stepped onto the track for Brutus Hamilton Challenge on Saturday at Cal's Edwards Stadium. Highlights from the meet included
Keanna Moody's season-best in the 400m and
Kaelyn Harbison in the 800m.
Contending with runners from University of Texas-El Paso and UC Davis, Moody dropped down to a 54.37 in the 400m dash, finishing fourth of 13. Though not her personal best, it is her top time this season and puts her seventh in the country in NCAA Division II.
Harbison was on top of her game in the women's 800m, going 2:14.91 after battling a Sacramento State-heavy section. The mark was just shy of her personal record.
In the 4x400m, the combination of
Mistic Scott, Moody,
Schae Graham, and
Chante Sneed produced a 3:45.08 time that put them second only to Kansas State, but ahead of teams from Cal and UC Davis. The mark improves the program's NCAA provisional qualifier, putting them among the country's top 10.
The men's 800m saw a new PR for
Austin Murray who went 1:53.26 and dropped his time from earlier this month at the SF State Distance Carnival. He remains second on the program's all-time list.
The month of May will start with Academy of Art in the Payton Jordan Invitational hosted by Stanford on May 2 before USF's West Coast Last Chance Meet on May 9.
