TWO-MATCH WEEKEND
Academy of Art women's tennis continues their six-match home stand with two matches this weekend against Dominican and Dixie State. The Penguin's match begins Saturday, February 13 at noon, with the Red Storm following on Sunday at 1 p.m. Live coverage will be available on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
 
KNOTABLE KNIGHTS
The Urban Knights faced Portland State in their first match of the season on January 31, and handed their Division I opponent a 6-1 loss. Senior Michelle Dandik Zaale defeated PSU's Tracy Dong  4-6, 7-5, 11-9 in their singles match. The senior trailed 5-2 in the second set, but managed to win five straight games to force it into a tiebreaker. Dandik Zaale was given the PacWest Women's Tennis Player of the Week award for her excellent performance. Freshman Taisiia Andrieieva also won a three-set match in singles, defeating the Vikings' Dane Vorster 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-8.
 
PENGUINS IN SAN FRANCISCO
Although early in the season, the Penguins have posted an 0-2 record thus far, dropping contests against Stanislaus State (3-6) and Holy Names (4-5). Alex Wartenberg has been the strongest competitor thus far for Dominican, posting a 4-1 record in singles and partnering with Rickimae Torres for a 1-0 doubles record.
 
EYE OF THE RED STORM
All is calm on the Dixie front as the women's tennis season has yet to kick off. Their first match of the spring will be at Stanislaus State on Saturday, February 13. The Red Storm will then travel to San Francisco to take on the the Urban Knights the following day at 1 p.m.

ART U OPENS SEASON WITH 6-1 WIN OVER PSU
January 31 – After a week drenched in rain, the weather held up just in time for No. 23 Academy of Art women's tennis (1-0) to defeat the on the Division I Portland State Vikings (0-3) 6-1 on Sunday in their season opener.
 
The Urban Knights won all three doubles matches with junior Annika Schneider and freshman Taisiia Andrieieva winning 7-6 (7-5), freshman Paula Alcantara and senior Michelle Dandik Zaale winning 6-0, and freshmen Klara Thell-Lenntorp and Alma Thell-Lenntorp handling PSU 6-1.

LOOKING AHEAD
ART U women's tennis continues on Saturday February 20, when No. 26 Sonoma State comes to town with their match commencing at noon.
