2016 Husky Classic Results (Day 1)SEATTLE – Returning to the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor for the start of three days of action, Academy of Art University track & field had one Urban Knight highlight the light day with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Jordan Edwards came through with one of the top times in the 200m dash to open the Husky Classic.
Edwards's best 200m time coming into the weekend had been 22.08 and he dropped over 0.3 off that mark on Friday. He would finish second in a field of 31, going 21.72 for his second NCAA National provisional qualifier following the 400m time he delivered at the UW Invitational. Also in the event,
Alexander McNally ran a season-best 22.22 and took 11th overall.
In the women's 200m,
Keanna Moody finished ninth of 41 sprinters with a time of 25.01. She remains top 25 in the country after her time of 25.00 on this same track at the UW Invitational.
Mistic Scott was not far behind her teammate, crossing the line in 13th overall.
On the men's side of the distance medley relay, it was
Kris Everett,
Austin Murray,
Joshua Browne, and
Valentin Pepiot who combined for a 9:56.49 mark that had them second of 11 in the meet. That time would qualify them provisionally for NCAA DII Nationals and put them ninth in the country.
The women's distance medley relay saw the quartet of
Kaelyn Harbison,
Kiara Clark,
Ashley Brown, and
Emily McCarty significantly improve on ART U's time at the UW Invitational, going 12:42.79 as a team.
Back inside Dempsey Indoor, Academy of Art will have a full day of action coming on Saturday with sprints, mid-distance, relays, and jumps on both sides.
