2016 University of Washington Open Results
SEATTLE – Competing for the third time in three days, Academy of Art University track & field continued to turn in impressive performances, doing so at the University of Washington Open on Sunday. Among the heartfelt accomplishments on Valentine's Day were
Jordan Edwards' 60m dash and
Mobolade Ajomale's 400m dash, both top finishes at the meet inside Dempsey Indoor.
Edwards contested his first 60m of the year and proved to be a force to be reckoned with once again. He delivered a time of 6.87 for first of 59 which provisionally qualified him for NCAA Nationals.
Ajomale also placed first in his 400m debut, going 48.22 to secure a provisional qualifier as well. He rose to 14th in the country with the mark.
Marlon Britton joined his teammates with a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles where he went 8.12 and remains in NCAA Division II's top 10.
In the men's mile,
Valentin Pepiot had his first taste of the mile this season and did not disappoint. He posted a 4:06.85 to claim second of 65 runners and set a new program record at Academy of Art.
Craig Mattox highlighted the day's jumps for the men with a season-long 46-9 (14.25m) triple jump. That distance puts him fourth in the ART U record book.
On the women's side,
Schae Graham took eighth in the 200m dash with a season-best of 25.70 while
Sabrina Anderson soared to a season-long 17-5.5 (5.32m) in the long jump.
Keanna Moody finished fifth of 58 in the 60m, going 7.82 which was 0.03 off her career-best.
ART U's penultimate meet leading up to NCAA DII Nationals will be the Northern Arizona Tune-Up taking place on Friday, Feb. 19 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
