2016 Kim Duyst Invitational ResultsTURLOCK, Calif. – Easing into an outdoor season that will move through May, ART U track & field sent members of its men's and women's squads to Stanislaus State's Al Brenda Track to contest the Kim Duyst Invitational.
The meet isolated distinct groups in each event, separating times and distances from junior colleges, teams in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, and four-year schools not in the CCAA.
Leading a contingent of seven Academy of Art competitors in the 13-athlete non-CCAA long jump field,
Amanda Odesjo opened her outdoor campaign with a 17-0.75 (5.20m). The mark would put her among the country's top 20.
The women's 800m saw
Kaelyn Harbison finish second among non-CCAA runners, going 2:19.36 for a time among the top 10 in NCAA DII thus far. She would also take first in the 5000m, turning in a time of 18:25.40 while
McKaela Christenson went 18:41.80 and both placed within the country's top 17 in this early outdoor meet.
On the men's side,
Johnnie Young offered a new program record 6-0.75 (1.85m) in the non-CCAA high jump.
Thomas Benson added a new career-best in long jump at 20-1.75 (6.14m).
Joshua Browne led the Knights in two events (400m and 1500m) while
Austin Murray paced the field in the 800m.
The Urban Knights will next conclude their indoor season with the NCAA National Championships on Mar. 11-12 in Pitt State's Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas then return to outdoor with Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational on Mar. 19.
