GOLDEN GATE CLASSIC
After opening the season on the road against Cal State East Bay, Academy of Art returns home to host the Golden Gate Classic. The tournament will consist of four games over two days with each team competing twice. The Urban Knights' first opponent will be Stanislaus State on Thursday, followed by SF State on Saturday.
 
KICKOFF
Thursday's match against the Warriors will take place at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's against the Gators will kick off at 4:00 p.m. Live coverage throughout the tournament will be available at the links listed above, but as always, you can follow the Urban Knights on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
 
KNOTABLE KNIGHTS
In ART U's first game, both junior midfielders Jonny Navarroand Matthew "Mateo" Rodriguez led the way with two shots apiece while Rodriguez had two on goal and Navarro posted one. Redshirt senior forward Jake Walter also contributed a pair of shots (one on goal) while coming off of the bench.

WARRIORS LOOKING FOR FIRST "W" OF 2016
Stanislaus State went 15-4-3 overall in 2015 and 8-3-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Their season continued all the way through the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament, but they fell to Cal State L.A. after the game went to penalty kicks. The Warriors are 0-1-1 in the early-goings of 2016, tying with Fresno Pacific 2-2 in their first game and dropping their second match 0-1 versus Notre Dame de Namur.
 
GATORS IN TOURNAMENTS ABOUND
SF State enters the Golden Gate Classic with a 1-1 record after just hosting a tournament of their own (SF State Classic). In 2015, the Gators posted a 7-6-4 overall record and went 3-5-4 in the CCAA. SF State and ART U have become entertaining inner-city rivals over the past few years with the latest episode coming on September 12, 2015 when the Urban Knights defeated the Gators 1-0 in overtime to win the Kezar Classic.

Sept. 2 - The Urban Knights (0-1-1) opened their season against Cal State East Bay (1-0-0) on Friday, falling 3-0 at the hands of the Pioneers. Although the result may not have favored ART U, there was plenty to take away from the season opener including the Knights' back line posting a strong first half. Although surrendering a goal, they fended off 12 shots while sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Mendez tallied five saves…
