2017 Hillsdale Wide Track Classic (Complete)
HILLSDALE, Mich. – Hurdlers
Quinlan Wright and
Marion Presigny both cleared barriers that had kept them from NCAA provisionals in the 60m hurdles as ART U track & field wrapped up the Hillsdale "Wide Track" Classic inside the Margot V. Biermann Center on Saturday.
Rian Young-Werner was also among the day's highlights with a provisional in the triple jump.
Wright was once again special in the finals of the 60m hurdles on Saturday. He followed up Friday's 8.29 NCAA provisional and season-best with yet another, crossing the finish line at 8.24. He took third of nine in the final, a race that also featured ART U's record-holder
Marlon Britton.
Mobolade Ajomale returned to compete in both the semifinals and the finals of the 60m dash after his impressive 2017 debut no Friday. He opened with a 6.79 in the semis to take second of 14 then dropped to a 6.77 in the finals for second overall to Indiana Tech's Kejavon Moore. Ajomale exits the weekend with one of the top 60m times in the country.
Presigny also saved her best for last in the semis and finals of the 60m hurdles. Coming off a prelim that saw her just miss the provisional, she went 8.95 to take seventh of 16 in the semis, but she moved up to fourth in the finals by significantly bettering the provisional with an 8.76. She will likely move up into the nation's top 25 by the end of the weekend.
Presigny later joined
Mistic Scott,
Jasmine Grace, and
Schae Graham for ART U's season-best in the 4x400m relay. The quartet posted a 3:53.52 for second overall out of 19 teams.
Young-Werner made a significant improvement to her season-best in the triple jump on Saturday, earning the NCAA provisional with a leap of 37-11.25 (11.56m). She would finish fifth of 23 jumpers in the event.
In less than seven days, Academy of Art will be back to the Dempsey Indoor in Seattle for the Husky Classic and University of Washington Open spanning Feb. 10-12.
