2017 Stanislaus Kim Duyst Invitational
TURLOCK, Calif. – In just its second meet of the 2017 outdoor season, Academy of Art University track & field spent day two of the Kim Duyst Invitational competing in a variety of events. Among the top performances were
Quinlan Wright in both hurdle events, successes by the distance and jump crews, and a new program record by
Folke Woch in the javelin throw.
Wright conquered numerous hurdles on Saturday, qualifying for the 110mH with a 14.87 in the prelims before once again claiming first in the finals. He picked up his third top finish with a 53.58 in the 400mH.
In the distance events,
Pierre Fontanarosa also claimed a first place result in the 1500m after going 3:57.43.
Kristian Martinez picked up third of 55 in the 800m with a time of 1:57.40.
Brady Johnson matched the program record in the high jump, launching to a height of 6-0.75 (1.85m).
Michael Houston took fourth of 38 with his 49.63 in the 400m.
On the women's side, Woch put her versatile talents on display, setting a new program record in the javelin throw with a 126-8 (38.61m) while finishing second of 20. She also won her heat in the 100mH with a 15.44 mark before ending up third of six in the finals.
The 1500m was owned by Academy of Art as three Urban Knights took each of the top positions, led by
Chandler Johnson (4:46.92),
Giulia McIsaac (4:47.10), and
Jamie Morris (4:47.47). McIsaac also claimed fourth of 40 in the 5000m.
The 800m also had its share of ART U dominance with
Beatriz Martinez Mercado posting the second-fastest time to date (2:14.55) for first of 51,
Ashley Brown (2:16.52) coming in second, then
Kaelyn Harbison and
Latavia Hawkins making it four Knights in the top six.
In the jumps,
Hadiyah Muhammad placed first among triple jumpers with a 33-11.25 (10.34m) and
Amanda Odesjo was essentially first in the long jump. Her 17-6.75 (5.35m) was third past two unattached jumpers.
ART U will make its annual trip to Sacramento for the Hornet Invitational on Mar. 17.
