Kuo Named WGCA All-American Scholar

2016-17 WGCA All-American Scholar Release

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – To cap off an impressive freshman season with Academy of Art, freshman Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar on July 5.

The criteria for the award is one of the most stringent in college athletics, including earning a 3.50 or higher grade point average and playing in at least 50% of the team's tournaments. Kuo did just that, earning a 3.69 GPA as a Motion Pictures and Television major and she competed in each of the Urban Knights' 11 invitationals.

Vicky enjoyed a successful debut season with ART U on the course as well. The Taoyuan, Taiwan native placed in the top 10 in four tournaments which included a second-place finish at the Sonoma State Fall Invite and a tie for fifth at the PacWest Championship. Kuo was also included in two All-Tournament teams and closed out the year with an All-PacWest Second-Team selection.

"I am very proud of Vicky's honor," said head coach Elaine Harris. "This year I was lucky enough to see her at work as she did a video for her class about our team.  She brought a camera with her to practice and collected footage for school. I think it is a special gift when students can simultaneously be inspired by both a school project and their sport. I am excited to watch her continue to grow in her field of study and on the golf course."
